Position Description

We are seeking a proactive Business Analyst to join our Scoping Team.

  • In this role, one will play a key role in defining the scope of Accessibility assessments and Design reviews for various projects, ensuring clarity and alignment with business goals.
  • This individual will collaborate with various stakeholders to identify and document technical requirements like what digital assets are in scope, environment details, test credentials and test data to support assessment activities.
  • This individual will be responsible for documenting complex customer workflows and business processes providing step by step instructions for accessibility consultants that are easy to understand and follow
  • This is a critical role that requires strong analytical skills, effective communication, and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a SLA based environment.

Primary Responsibilities

  1. Requirement Gathering and Scoping:
    • Work with stakeholders to gather and document requirements for executing scoping activities.
    • Analyze assessment requirements to ensure comprehensive coverage in assessment scopes.
    • Define and refine the scope of assessments, ensuring alignment with agreed scoping guidelines.
    • Identify potential risks and dependencies related to assessment, and highlight them during the scoping step.
  2. Documentation and Reporting:
    • Develop detailed scoping documents, including details such as test units to assess,LOE, environment, credentials, asset types (and more) as per Deque’s methodologies for different standard based assessments.
    • Prepare other support documents to help facilitate smoother execution of sales process and actual assessment work (For example, Screenshot document, Scope summary, etc).
  3. Stakeholder Collaboration:
    • Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders, including sales executives, engagement managers, and technical experts, to ensure a shared understanding of assessment scope.
    • Facilitate discussion to gather input and validate scope assumptions and test units added in scope of work.
  4. Subject Matter Expertise in Scoping:
    • Serve as the primary point of contact for the execution team, providing clarity and resolving any questions related to the scope.
    • Maintain knowledge of the assessments scope done in the past to ensure alignment and consistency across all project phases.
  5. Process Improvement:
    • Evaluate existing scoping processes and suggest improvements to enhance efficiency and accuracy.
    • Develop and maintain templates, guidelines, and best practices for scoping activities.

Requirements

  • Education & Experience:
    • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field.
    • 2+ years of experience as a Business Analyst with a focus on digital accessibility.
  • Skills & Competencies:
    • Strong analytical skills, with the ability to understand and document complex technical requirements.
    • Familiarity with accessibility testing tools, techniques, and standards.
    • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to interact effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
    • Ability to adapt and pivot strategies for information gathering when full access to stakeholders is not available.
    • Detail-oriented with the ability to consider the bigger picture and make wise decisions in complex situations.
  • Technical Skills:
    • Understanding of development practices like HTML, CSS, JavaScript is a must.
    • Familiarity with general testing methodologies (manual and automated)
    • Ability to assess and document platform complexity across a variety of devices and environments (desktop, mobile, kiosks, etc.).
    • Familiarity with accessibility standards such as WCAG, EN 301 549, Section 508, and others.
    • Basic understanding of web and mobile application development processes is a plus.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with accessibility testing or remediation, including working with development teams to address code-related accessibility issues.
  • Familiarity with testing platforms across a wide range of devices and environments.
