Lori Sommerfield is Of Counsel with Ballard Spahr LLP. She is a seasoned consumer financial services attorney with over two decades of experience in the federal government, in-house, and private practice settings. Ms. Sommerfield has broad experience in consumer finance law and deep expertise in regulatory compliance concerning federal and state anti-discrimination laws, including the Americans with Disabilities Act. She provides legal advice to a broad variety of clients on how to achieve accessibility of digital platforms (websites and mobile applications) and successfully builds ADA risk management programs. Ms. Sommerfield counsels banks and nonbanks that offer consumer financial products and services in regulatory compliance matters, and she has successfully represented clients in navigating supervisory issues and preparing for examinations by the CFPB and federal and state banking agencies, as well as defending investigations and enforcement actions by the CFPB and U.S. Department of Justice. She is a member of the District of Columbia Bar Association, Minnesota State Bar Association (Past Co-Chair, Banking Law Committee (2000-2010) and Past Executive Council Member, Business Law Section (2000-2009)), and the American Bar Association, Business Law Section (Consumer Financial Services Committee and Banking Law Committee). She is a graduate of Catholic University of America, Columbus School of Law (J.D.), and the University of Minnesota (B.A.).
