Claire Kearney-Volpe holds a Ph.D. in Rehabilitation Sciences and Human Computer Interaction, a master’s in Interactive Telecommunications, and is a certified Art Therapist.
As a member of New York University’s Ability Project, her academic research is focused on the intersection between digital accessibility and usability, and participatory design. Her work spans several industries and she has had the opportunity to engage with the New York Public Library, Cooper Hewitt Smithsonian Design Museum, Google’s Creative Lab, as well as the Processing open source community in both research and design.
Claire is a Senior UX Researcher at Verizon, building an Accessibility UX Research practice at the company. As part of this work, she hopes to empower designers and researchers to consider accessibility and push the practice beyond compliance to improve experiences for all users.
