From Exclusion to Inclusion: Advancing Accessible Gaming Together

“Nothing About Us Without Us” is a civil rights slogan from the disability community used to communicate the idea that no policy, product, or space should be made without the full and direct participation of those who it impacts or benefits. But given the nature of game production, how can we make sure we are directly involving the disability community when creating accessible player experiences? The first half will be a primer on disability studies and history in the context of games. The second half will go over recommended strategies, accounting for what has worked in the past and gaps that should be filled in the future.
