Digital Accessibility as a Professional Responsibility: People, Product, Process and Positioning

At EE, Digital Accessibility has become a shared capability at the same level as Design Ops, User Research, Service Design and Product and Content Design. We established a team responsible for the governance and implementation of our program. Through a robust engagement process we established accountability and cooperation across the organisation, while also transparency about our levels of compliance. Meeting WCAG compliance as a minimum is part of our KPIs and measured against everyone’s goals. We have since won a mainstream gold award for Best Accessibility in 2023 and nominated for Best Innovation and Best Accessibility in 2024. I intend to demonstrate on how and why our approach has worked.
