Deque Systems Awards $10,000 Amaze Grant to NVDA

Deque Press ReleaseMarch 20, 2015 – San Diego, CA – Deque Systems is proud to announce that NV Access (http://www.nvaccess.org/) is the winner of the 2015 Amaze Grant, a $10,000 award given to new technologies and initiatives that help increase digital accessibility for users with disabilities. NV Access is the developer of NVDA, screen-reading software that can read a computer screen in synthetic speech, or via a refreshable braille display. It is available free of charge.

“NVDA will not only help remove barriers to the web for users with visual impairments, but also help improve the accessibility of software and web products at large,” Deque CEO Preety Kumar said.

The Amaze Grant was awarded at Deque’s CSUN 2015 evening reception on March 4th. Deque Systems, a long-time sponsor of the week-long conference, also presented talks on mobile accessibility and customer success stories.

“It’s an honor to receive this award from Deque,” said Michael Curran, Executive Director at NV Access. “This grant will greatly help NVDA to enable our users to independently use computers for writing, reading, socializing, shopping and banking online — and, most importantly, actively participating in education and employment.”
